Brian Giles was an infielder for the Mets from 1981 to 1983. He played in 199 games with the team. Giles had 162 total bases and 53 runs scored as a Met.

Giles began his major league career with nine game appearances for the Mets in September of 1981. He went hitless in seven at bats during this period. In 1982, Brian played in 45 games as a second baseman for the Mets. On August 15, he got his first major league hit with a double and scored a run in a 5-4 Mets win over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. Giles hit his first home run in a 2-1 Mets loss in 10 innings at Atlanta on August 20. He singled and homered in the Mets' 4-1 win at St. Louis on September 12. At Montreal on September 16, Brian had a two-run single in a 9-4 Mets triumph over the Expos. He also hit a home run in a 5-2 Mets victory at Chicago on September 22.

In 1983, Giles had 400 at bats in his first full season as a major leaguer. In the season opener at Shea on April 5, he drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as the Mets defeated the Phillies, 2-0. Brian had two doubles and two runs scored in a 6-2 Mets win at Pittsburgh on May 14. He singled and scored twice in the Mets' 7-5 victory over the Astros on July 10 at Shea. Giles had a run-scoring single in the 15th inning to give the Mets a 4-3 win over the Padres at Shea on September 3. He also had two singles, a double, a homer and four RBIs in the Mets' 7-6 win at Chicago on September 24.

In 1984, Giles played for the Mets' AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. He spent time with the Brewers and White Sox over the next two seasons. Brian continued to play in the minor leagues and appeared in 45 games for the Mariners in 1990. He also played independent league ball from 1996 to 1998.
