Brent Gaff

Brent Gaff was a righthanded pitcher for the Mets in the 1980s. He appeared in 58 games compiled an earned run average of 4.06 from 1982 to 1984. Brent's won-lost record was 4-5 and he recorded one save.

In '82, Gaff made his major league debut on July 7 against the San Francisco Giants at Shea Stadium. He pitched seven shutout innings before allowing three runs in the eighth and ending up with the loss. He finished the year winless with three defeats, but recorded his first major league win in 1983 against the Expos on October 1.

As a reliever, Brent pitched in 47 games for the Mets in '84. He recorded 42 strikeouts and 3 wins with an ERA of 3.63 for the season. Gaff pitched the last five innings and got the win in the Mets' 11-6 triumph over the Giants at Shea on August 26. He also earned his only major league save on September 24 against the Phillies at Shea.

Gaff spent the entire 1985 season on the disabled list with a torn rotator cuff. He was released by the Mets on November 13.
