Bobby Klaus

Bobby Klaus was an infielder for the Mets in 1964 and 1965. He got 106 hits (27 for extra bases) and scored 55 runs in 175 games during his two seasons in New York. His batting average was .213 as a Met.
Klaus was purchased from the Cincinnati Reds on July 19, 1964. He became the Mets' primary leadoff hitter while playing second base, third base and shortstop for the remainder of the season. On August 16, Bobby collected four singles in the Mets' 12-4 win over the Phillies at Shea Stadium. He homered and scored the winning run in a 5-4 Mets victory over the Cubs in the second game of a doubleheader on August 23 at Shea. Klaus also hit one of five Mets' homers in the team's 15-5 win at St. Louis on October 3.
On April 15, 1965, Klaus hit a home run in the tenth inning to give the Mets a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros. Also in '65, Bobby got two singles and two doubles against the Cardinals on May 22 and scored three runs with a homer in a game against the Cubs on September 19.
Klaus was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-player deal on February 22, 1966.
