In his tenth major league season, Shaw joined the Mets on June 10, 1966. Despite his late arrival during the year, he ended the season as the Mets' leader in wins with 11. Bob was the winning pitcher in each of his first four games with the team from June 13 to June 25. He pitched a 10-inning shutout for a 1-0 Mets victory over the Astros in Houston on September 19. Shaw also threw 1-0 shutout over the Cubs at Shea Stadium on September 28.
Contrary to his start in '66, Shaw lost his first five decisions in 1967. On June 3, he pitched an 11-inning three-hitter at San Francisco for his first win of the year. Bob pitched a six-hit shutout for a 4-0 win over the Reds at Shea on June 14. Shaw was also the winning pitcher in the Mets' 8-5 triumph at St. Louis on July 16.
