The Mets and Rangers made a deal before the start of the 1973 season. The team traded infielder Bill Sudakis to Texas for outfielder Bill McNulty. Sudakis was a five-year veteran who played in 18 games for the Mets in 1972. McNulty had appeared in nine games with the Oakland Athletics before he was acquired the Rangers five months earlier.
McNulty never appeared in a game for the Mets. He played the '73 season for the AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. Bill finished his career with two years for the Milwaukee Brewers' AAA-level Sacramento team.
In 82 games with the Rangers, Sudakis batted .255 with 15 home runs and 43 RBIs in '73. He was sold to the Yankees after the season.
