Bill Sudakis

Bill Sudakis played 18 games for the Mets in 1972. He had seven hits and drove in seven runs in his lone season with the team. Bill was primarily a first baseman, but also served as a reserve catcher.

After four seasons with the Dodgers. Sudakis was claimed on waivers by the Mets on March 27, 1972. He spent the first half of the season in the minor leagues before joining the Mets in July. In his second game after his recall, Bill got a single to drive home Willie Mays in the Mets' 4-0 win over the Giants at Shea Stadium on July 12. Three days later, his first inning single drove in Mays and John Milner for all the Mets' scoring in a 2-1 win over the Padres at San Diego.

On September 22, Sudakis hit a three-run homer off the Phillies' Ken Reynolds in the Mets' eventual 5-4 loss in 11 innings. This was Bill's only homer with the team. He also had a run-scoring single in the Mets' 7-3 win at Pittsburgh on October 1. In Bill's last game as a Met on October 3, he got two singles in a 12-inning win over the Expos at Montreal.

Sudakis was traded to the Texas Rangers on March 28, 1973. He played three more years in the major leagues with the Rangers, Yankees, Angels and Indians.
