Ben Johnson was an outfielder for the Mets in 2007. He played in nine games with the team. Johnson had five hits and a run batted in as a Met.
Johnson had played two seasons with the Padres before joining the Mets. In ’07, he was in the starting lineup seven times. At Shea Stadium on May 31, Ben singled and scored a run in the Mets’ 4-2 win over the Giants. He drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in a 7-1 Mets victory over the Diamondbacks on June 2 at Shea. Johnson singled twice in a 6-3 Mets defeat to the Phillies in 10 innings at Shea on June 7. He also doubled and scored in a 15-7 Mets loss at Detroit on June 10.
After a one-season absence from professional baseball, Johnson played with the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden Baseball League in 2009 and 2010. He also spent time with the Tigers’ AA-level team in Erie, Pennsylvania in ’10.
