1972: The Mets hit four doubles and four home runs in a 13-6 win over the Braves at Atlanta.
1974: In the Mets' 4-2 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium, Benny Ayala becomes the first player in team history ever to hit a home run in his first at bat in the major leagues.
1979: In the completion of a suspended game from June 17, the Mets defeat the Braves, 2-1, on Alex Trevino's run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jeff Reardon records his first major league win despite most of the game being played while he was in the minor leagues.
1981: The Mets score twice in the eighth inning for a 3-2 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.
1983: Darryl Strawberry hits two home runs in a 6-3 Mets win over the Giants at Shea Stadium.
1986: The Mets defeat the Padres, 6-5, in 11 innings. The game ends on a double play in which Len Dykstra throws out the tying run at the plate and catcher John Gibbons then throws out the runner going to third.
1997: The Mets score eight runs in the seventh inning in a 15-6 win over the Giants at Shea Stadium.
