1960: The Continental League disbands on the promise that four of its franchises would be accepted as expansion franchises in the National and American Leagues.

1973: The Mets defeat the Pirates, 5-1, at Shea Stadium. Cleon Jones becomes the first player ever to get 1,000 career hits as a Met.

1980: The Mets score two runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth for a 5-3 comeback win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

1994: The Mets score three runs in the eighth inning for a 4-1 win over the Braves at Shea Stadium.

2005: The Mets defeat the Brewers in 11 innings, 9-8, despite five Milwaukee home runs.

2008: Daniel Murphy plays his first major league game. He gets one hit and scores a run in the Mets' 5-4 loss to the Astros.
