1964: Dennis Ribant pitches a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as the Mets defeat the Pirates, 5-0, at Shea Stadium. Charley Smith hits two home runs in the game.
1966: The Mets come back from a 7-1 deficit to defeat the Pirates, 8-7, at Shea Stadium.
1967: The Mets and Pirates split a doubleheader at Pittsburgh. In the opener, Bud Harrelson hits his first major league home run (inside-the-park) in the Mets' 6-5 win. The Bucs take the nightcap, 6-5, in 14 innings.
1975: The Mets defeat the Giants, 3-0, at Shea Stadium. Tom Seaver gets the win and Jerry Koosman records a save in the combined shutout.
1984: The Mets defeat the Giants, 2-0, in San Francisco. Wally Backman's only home run of the season wins it for the Mets in the 10th inning.
1996: The Mets defeat the San Diego Padres, 7-3, in the second game of a series played in Monterrey, Mexico.
2008:
- Johan Santana pitches his first shutout as a Met in a 4-0 win at Pittsburgh. Santana allows three hits and strikes out seven batters in the game.
- The Mets acquire Luis Ayala from the Washington Nationals for a player to be named later. Anderson Hernandez is sent to the Nats on August 20 to complete the deal.
