1976: The Mets defeat the Padres, 5-4, at Shea Stadium. Jerry Koosman outpitches Randy Jones in a matchup of the eventual top two finishers in the season's Cy Young Award voting.

1979: The Mets score six runs in the first inning and defeat the Expos, 7-1, in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. Montreal wins the second game, 6-5.

1992: The Mets lose to the Pirates, 4-2, in 16 innings at Shea Stadium. Vince Coleman sets a new team record with 5 walks in the game.

1994: The Mets defeat the Phillies, 6-2, at Philadelphia. It is the team's final win of the strike-shortened season.

1995: The Mets complete a three-game sweep of the Phillies with a 5-1 victory in 11 innings at Veterans Stadium. Don Florence records his first major league win.

2004: David Wright hits his first home run at Shea Stadium in the Mets' 7-3 win over the Astros. The homer comes off Houston reliever Tim Redding in the seventh inning.

2005: The Mets defeat the Padres, 9-1, at San Diego. Kris Benson pitches one-hit ball for the first eight innings and David Wright drives in six runs.
